Electric City Butcher
Electric City Butchers, in downtown Santa Ana, truly is one of the great hidden Hot Spots of Orange County.
Tucked away inside Alta Baja in the 4th street market, Electric City Butchers is an Old World style Butcher shop that reminds me of the days when being a butcher was a craft, not an after school job.
Even in this world of keyboard critics, Electric City Butchers has managed to achieve the Internet status of “5 stars” on Yelp.
If they can manage to keep the Yelp crowd happy, then you know you are going to be in for something of exceptional quality.
Everyone who knows me understands that I have a love of barbecuing and eating animals. Electric City Butchers has become my go-to spot to source my animal protein.
The selection of high quality cuts and service are what keep me going back.
Recently when I dropped in to get some ground beef, they asked me what I was making and then adjusted the grind to suit what I was cooking – that’s service you simply don’t get at your chain store supermarket.
Electric City Butchers carefully selects the ranches they source their products from as they want to ensure that they are providing meat from animals who have been raised responsibly and have been cared for their whole lives.
You can find a list of all their product suppliers on their website at www.electriccitybutcher.com.
Offering more than just your standard cuts of meat, the team at Electric City Butchers also render their own animal fat and make their own bone broth.
If you have never had vegetables roasted in duck fat, then I suggest that you stop everything that you are doing right now, head over to Electric City Butchers and start cooking.
The taste is amazing!
I would recommend that you sign up for their weekly newsletter “Noes to Toes”.
They offer cooking advice, list upcoming community events and promo their cooking classes.
I haven’t had the chance to attend one of their cooking classes yet, but it is definitely on my to-do list.
They have recently been running a series on cooking Lamb, and from what I hear, these classes really help people become more confident with cooking new foods.
So, once you’ve cleaned off your grill for summer, head over to Electric City Butchers and see what they offer. Your taste buds will thank you.
Pro Tip – The parking building for the 4th Street Markets is free on Sundays!
